The Carpenter Helper is responsible for assisting carpenters on job sites with various tasks, including:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean work areas, machines, and equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site
- Study blueprints to assess required tools, equipment, and supplies, and make arrangements to have them procured
- Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware
- Install interior and exterior finishes under supervision
- Build or wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, and power tools
- Other manual duties as directed
Qualifications
- Experience in a construction setting
- Valid driver license
- Punctual, reliable, self-starter
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery is an asset
- Commitment to working safely
Working Conditions
- Work sites may vary and include working outside in all conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads in excess of 40 pounds etc.)
