The Carpenter Helper is responsible for assisting carpenters on job sites with various tasks, including:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean work areas, machines, and equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Study blueprints to assess required tools, equipment, and supplies, and make arrangements to have them procured
  • Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware
  • Install interior and exterior finishes under supervision
  • Build or wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, and power tools
  • Other manual duties as directed

Qualifications

  • Experience in a construction setting
  • Valid driver license
  • Punctual, reliable, self-starter
  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery is an asset
  • Commitment to working safely

Working Conditions

  • Work sites may vary and include working outside in all conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads in excess of 40 pounds etc.)
